Lionsgate late Thursday night, early Friday morning dropped the second trailer for the new Hellboy movie in all of its red-band glory.
Starring David Harbour, the R-rated reboot looks to give fans a quick origin story for the half-demon raised from Hell by Nazi’s all while dropping F bombs and separating itself from the Guillermo del Toro-directed Hellboy movies.
Neil Marshall’s darker story with its gruesome, bloodier action takes this Hellboy movie closer to the original comic book version unfortunately this version won’t feature Abe Sapien, Hellboy’s friend and colleague.
David Harbour recently spoke with Empire about the role of Hellboy, saying he didn’t want to “imitate” Ron Pearlman, “Hellboy’s younger. He’s rougher. He’s much more of a teenager. He’s really struggling with the idea of whether or not he’s a good person.”
Hellboy opens in theaters on April 12th.
Cast: David Harbour, Milla Jovovich, Ian McShane, Sasha Lane, Penelope Mitchell.
Official synopsis for Hellboy:
Hellboy is back, and he’s on fire. From the pages of Mike Mignola’s seminal work, this action packed story sees the legendary half-demon superhero (David Harbour, “Stranger Things”) called to the English countryside to battle a trio of rampaging giants. There he discovers The Blood Queen, Nimue (Milla Jovovich, Resident Evil series), a resurrected ancient sorceress thirsting to avenge a past betrayal. Suddenly caught in a clash between the supernatural and the human, Hellboy is now hell-bent on stopping Nimue without triggering the end of the world.
