Warner Brothers and New Line Cinema released the second full trailer for Shazam that sees a teenage boy turn into a superhero just by shouting one simple word, Shazam!
Shazam! follows Billy Batson a 14-year-old teenager who turns into an adult superhero whenever he shouts the word Shazam! The latest trailer from Warner Brothers is with out a doubt all about the comedy and the types of powers starring Asher Angel as Billy Batson and Zachary Levi as the adult Shazam.
While set in the DCEU, Shazam will obviously have a very different tone and feel then that of Batman v Superman. Promoting a lighter tone for Aquaman worked for Warner Brothers and box office returns reflects the results and this seems to be what there hoping for with Shazam. Even though it’s not a bad idea it will be interesting to see if it works for Shazam considering not as many movie goers will be as familiar with the character.
Shazam! opens in theaters on April 5th.
Cast: Asher Angel, Zachary Levi, Jack Dylan Grazer, Grace Fulton, Faithe Herman, Ian Chen, Jovan Armand, Cooper Andrews, Marta Milans
Official Synopsis for Shazam!
We all have a superhero inside us, it just takes a bit of magic to bring it out. In Billy Batson’s (Angel) case, by shouting out one word—SHAZAM!—this streetwise 14-year-old foster kid can turn into the adult Super Hero Shazam (Levi), courtesy of an ancient wizard. Still a kid at heart—inside a ripped, godlike body—Shazam revels in this adult version of himself by doing what any teen would do with superpowers: have fun with them! Can he fly? Does he have X-ray vision? Can he shoot lightning out of his hands? Can he skip his social studies test? Shazam sets out to test the limits of his abilities with the joyful recklessness of a child. But he’ll need to master these powers quickly in order to fight the deadly forces of evil controlled by Dr. Thaddeus Sivana (Strong).
