Sony Pictures has released the first trailer for Jason Reitman‘s Ghostbusters: Afterlife that picks up thirty years after 1989’s Ghostbusters II.
Callie (Carrie Coon) the mother of Trevor (Finn Wolfhard) and Phoebe (Mckenna Grace) move to a small town in Oklahoma after inheriting the property once owned by Collie’s father. Even though the trailer doesn’t come out and tell you exactly who Callie’s father is it does heavily hint that it’s Egon Spengler, played of course by the late Harlod Ramis who sadly passed away in 2014
Paul Rudd who plays Mr. Grooberson, seems to have plenty of knowledge when it comes to the Ghostbusters past and what happened, specifically the “Manhattan Crossrip,” or the big event at the end of 1984’s Ghostbusters movie. Sigourney Weaver back in June of this year confirmed that she, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, and Annie Potts would be appearing in Ghostbusters: Afterlife. Of course we shouldn’t expect to get any looks at the original cast or what role they may actually serve in Afterlife anytime soon and that’s fine with me.
Ghostbusters: Afterlife is directed by Jason Reitman the son of director, Ivan Reitman who directed the original two Ghostbusters movies in 1984 and 1989. Ghostbusters: Afterlife serves as both a sequel and a reboot to Ghostbusters (1984) Ghostbusters 2 (1989).
Cast: Carrie Coon, Finn Wolfhard, Mckenna Grace and Paul Rudd
