Batman: Caped Crusader, an animated series from executive producers J.J. Abrams, Matt Reeves and Bruce Timm, receives a straight to series order from HBO Max and the Cartoon Network.
Batman: The Animated Series is considered by many as the best Batman put on the big or small screen as no other movie or television show has ever captured the essence of Batman quite like the 1990s cartoon series did turning Gotham into an art deco city full of criminals.
HBO Max and the Cartoon Network feel they have something special that Batman fans will enjoy all while releasing few details. One detail fans would love to know is if Kevin Conroy will be returning to voice the Dark Knight? As cool as that would be I am willing to venture on a guess that he will not.
When you look at the way Batman is drawn on the poster below, he is similar to the Batman on the cover of Detective Comics #31 (also below), a classic Batman story from the late 1930s.
Executive Producers Bruce Timm, J.J. Abrams and Matt Reeves said: “We are beyond excited to be working together to bring this character back, to tell engrossing new stories in Gotham City. The series will be thrilling, cinematic and evocative of Batman’s noir roots, while diving deeper into the psychology of these iconic characters. We cannot wait to share this new world.”
The reimagining of the Batman mythology is produced by Warner Bros. Animation, Bad Robot Productions and 6th & Idaho and marks Batman: The Animated series producer Bruce Timm’s return to Batman in animated episodic series.
Batman: Caped Crusader does not yet have a premiere date and will for sure be one project to keep an eye out for on HBO Max. Check out the poster for Batman: Caped Crusader below.
