Viacom-CBS and Paramount Plus announced premiere dates and additional season renewals for several live-action Star Trek series.
Among the announcements that dropped for Star Trek fans is that we now know the premiere date for the upcoming second season of Star Trek: Picard. Season two of Star Trek: Picard will premiere on Thursday, March 3. Following the premiere, new episodes will drop weekly on Thursdays. Star Trek: Picard is currently in production on a third season. Of course, everyone is looking forward to seeing John de Lancie making his return as Q, Annie Wersching will debut as the Borg Queen as well as returning cast members Patrick Stewart, Alison Pill, Isa Briones, Evan Evagora, Michelle Hurd, Jeri Ryan, and Santiago Cabrera.
Star Trek: Strange New Worlds will follow Anson Mount as Captain Christopher Pike, along with the initial crew of the U.S.S. Enterprise. Strange New Worlds will center on Captain Pike, Science Officer Spock, and Number One in the years prior to James T. Kirk taking command. Unlike current Star Trek shows like Discovery or Picard, Strange New Worlds will follow the episodic format of the original series and not rely on serialized storytelling. Star Trek: Strange New Worlds will premiere on Thursday, May 5 with new episodes dropping weekly on Thursdays.
Season four of Star Trek: Discovery returns with new episodes on Thursday, Feb. 10. And has been renewed for a fifth season.
Star Trek: Lower Decks will return this summer (2022) with a 10-episode-long third season and has also been renewed for a 10-episode fourth season.
Season one of Star Trek: Prodigy is currently in streaming with new episodes, the additional 10-episode second half of season one will be available on Paramount Plus sometime later in 2022.
