Paramount Home Entertainment announced on Wednesday that Star Trek V and VI along with The Director’s Edition of The Motion Picture are coming to 4K.
Paramount Home Entertainment will be releasing Star Trek V: The Final Frontier and Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country in September to complete the six-film 4K UHD Blu-ray collection. Paramount also plans on releasing Robert Wise’s Star Trek: The Motion Picture — The Director’s Edition in both a standard and limited-edition 4K release. It was on September 7, 2021, when Paramount released the first four Star Trek films on 4K UHD.
If you were waiting for all six movies to be released in 4K before adding all six original Star Trek films to your movie library a new 15-disc collection will be available.

The fully-remastered and enhanced Star Trek: The Motion Picture — The Director’s Edition is being released in a massive three-disc special limited set. The Complete Adventure will include the Director’s Edition, theatrical cut of the film in 4K UHD, but it will also include 1983 “Special Longer Version” as an exclusive feature.

If “The Complete Adventure” is more than you want, you will also be able to purchase a two-disc set with new behind-the-scenes bonus content as well as bonus features from previous releases.

If you want to be choosey as to which movies you add to your library Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, Star Trek III: The Search for Spock, and Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home, part of last September’s four-film collection box set will be available with standalone 4K releases of their own.

Star Trek V: The Final Frontier (1989) and Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country (1991) will also get their own standalone 4K releases. Both will be presented in 4K UHD with HDR-10 and Dolby Vision, boldly remastered from the original film elements; a Blu-ray disc containing the remastered presentation will also be included.

It is worth noting that Star Trek VI will include Nicholas Meyer’s director’s cut of the film, which includes sequences not included in the theatrical edition — including Rene Auberjonois Colonel West, plus edits to the Spock/Valeris mind-meld sequence on the bridge of the Enterprise.
