Gilbert Gottfried, Dead at 67

Gilbert Gottfried has died at the age of 67.

Gilbert Gottfried, the most recognizable voice in Hollywood, died of myotonic dystrophy type 2, a form of muscular dystrophy, according to his publicist. Gottfried was 67.

His family wrote on Twitter… “We are heartbroken to announce the passing of our beloved Gilbert Gottfried after a long illness. In addition to being the most iconic voice in comedy, Gilbert was a wonderful husband, brother, friend and father to his two young children. Although today is a sad day for all of us, please keep laughing as loud as possible in Gilbert’s honor,”.

Gottfried gave voice to the parrot in the Disney animated feature “Aladdin” and the duck for the Aflac insurance commercials. His stand-up routines were highly original and mixed old-fashioned borscht-belt shtick with cringeworthy vulgarity.

2022 has now seen the loss of several comedians, including Louie Anderson and Bob Saget.

Gottfried is survived by his wife, Dara Kravitz, and two children, Lily and Max.
