Maverick might be needing some speed, but there is no doubt that Ethan Hunt is looking to do the impossible in first the trailer for Mission: Impossible — Dead Reckoning Part One.
Mission: Impossible — Dead Reckoning Part One won’t open in theaters until July of 2023, but today Paramount releases the first trailer for the seventh film in the long running franchise the week that Tom Cruise’s other big franchise movie is set to fly into theaters.
This first trailer showcases several new action sequences and Tom Cruise pushing the limits when it comes to death-defying stunts, everything you would expect from a Mission: Impossible movie. We even see the return of Henry Czerny as Kittridge, director of IMF from the first Mission: Impossible movie back in 1996, who is the only character that you hear speak in the trailer.
Dead Reckoning Part One is the first of the final two movies that will bring the Mission: Impossible franchise to a close. There’s a part of me that wonders if Tom Cruise’s Ethan Hunt will meet his end at the conclusion of Dead Reckoning Part Two? Right now, that is a pure guess, but I’m having that same feeling I had about Han Solo being killed off after Lucasfilm announced Harrison Ford was returning for The Force Awakens in 2014.
Joining Tom Cruise, for Dead Reckoning part One is Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Rebecca Ferguson, Hayley Atwell, Pom Klementieff, Shea Whigham, Cary Elwes and Esai Morales as the film’s antagonist.
Mission: Impossible — Dead Reckoning Part One is set to hit theaters on July 14, 2023 and Mission: Impossible — Dead Reckoning Part Two on June 28, 2024.
