Disney released the first trailer for their new live-action remake of Pinocchio that stars Tom Hanks as Geppetto.
The story of Pinocchio is based on an 1883 Italian children’s novel titled The Adventures of Pinocchio by Carlo Collodi. Walt Disney originally released Pinocchio as an animated musical in 1940, just their second animated movie after the release of 1937’s Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.
The release of the teaser trailer gives fans of Pinocchio their first look at the retelling of a classic story this time in live-action form. Tom Hanks stars as Geppetto who wishes on a star for his wooden puppet to come to life. Pinocchio also features Benjamin Evan Ainsworth as Pinocchio, Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Jiminy Cricket, Luke Evans as the evil Coachman, Keegan-Michael Key as Honest John and Lorraine Bracco as Sofia the Seagull, an all-new character specifically created for this adaptation.
Pinocchio is directed by Robert Zemeckis, who also co-wrote the movie along with producer Chris Weitz. Pinocchio will release to Disney Plus on September 8th.
