Smokey And The Bandit

Reynolds is the Bandit, a king-of-the-road trucker hero who accepts the ultimate challenge: pick up a truckload of Coors beer in Texarkana–the closest place it can be legally sold–and haul it cross-country to Atlanta in 28 hours. The reward? $80,000! The result? The wildest series of car chases and crashes ever filmed! The reason? A Texas “Smokey,” Sheriff Buford T. Justice (Gleason), becomes maniacally obsessed with apprehending the elusive Bandit when he joined forces with Smokey’s son’s runaway bride (Sally Field)!

Best Line: “Oh I love your suits. It must have been a bitch to get a 68 Extra Fat and a 12 Dwarf.”

Smokey and The Bandit is one of my all time favorite movies. It is a simple fun movie that Hollywood has forgotten how to make these days. No computer graphics, no green screen. Nothing fake about the movie! What you see on the screen is what you get. Burt Reynolds and Jackie Gleason make this movie in my mind.
Smokey and the Bandit turned out to be the 2nd highest grossing movie of 1977. The movie that beat it out for #1 was a simple movie some of you may have heard of, Star Wars.
