The Sound Of Raiders Of The Lost Ark

Paramount Home Entertainment has released a new behind-the-scenes video featuring sound designer Ben Burtt, and foley artist John Roesch demonstrating how the iconic sounds of Indiana Jones were created.

When we go to our favorite movie theater and enjoy a great movie most of us do not realize how much work goes into the sound we hear, and I am not talking about that John Williams score either.

The Indiana Jones 4-Movie Collection arrives on 4K Ultra HD on June 8 and Paramount in anticipation has released a new behind-the-scenes video featuring Ben Burtt, the legendary sound designer behind Star Wars and Indiana Jones along with foley artist John Roesch came together on the Foley stage at Skywalker Sound to demonstrate what it took to make the iconic sounds of Indiana Jones come to life.

In the nearly six-minute video Burtt and Roesch use some of the original props to demonstrate face punches, sword swishes, snake slithers and what Burtt admits to being a little blasphemous to create the sound of the Ark’s lid being removed!
