Downton Abbey a British television drama that airs in the UK and the States is coming to an end, but the producers of the show say a movie is not out of the question.
Gareth Neame the executive producer for Downton Abbey says the show will end several years shy of the 1929 stock market crash and by doing so will leave a rich territory to be mined if a film is ever made.
Gareth while talking with critics said a movie had been discussed, but no script nor was they’re any firm plans. Gareth would not be specific if a movie would be for the television or for the big-screen. He did say however a “Downtown Abbey” movie could be a “wonderful thing.”
For those not familiar, Downton Abbey depicts the lives of the aristocratic Crawley family and their servants in the post-Edwardian era—with the great events in history having an effect on their lives and on the British social hierarchy.
Production of the show will wrap on August 15th. The sixth and final season will air later this year across the pond in the UK and sometime in early 2016 here in the States.
